  • The Mission Continues

As in the past so it remains today - we were and still are under the selfsame commitment to adhere to the directions of the Gedolei Yisrael, who stand guard against breaches of purity threatening our camp. When we were required to ask – we asked. When we were instructed to depart – we left. The moment we are summoned back to raise the flag, every other consideration is pushed to the side and we answer: We are ready!

Netanyahu is Ill, the Visit to Germany Postponed

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's scheduled trip to Germany has been postponed. Netanyahu has come down with a viral infection, and has a light fever. His private doctor recommended that he remain at home. The meeting that Netanyahu had scheduled with the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, has been put off until some time in January.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu cancelled his trip to Germany today, after falling ill. According to his private physician, Netanyahu is suffering from a mild virus, and has a low-grade fever.

It was Netanyahu's doctor, Dr. Tzvi Herman Berkovitch, who advised the Prime Minister to rest at home. Netanyahu's office told the press that the meeting between the Prime Minister and German Chancellor Angela Merkel has been postponed until some time in January.

Officials from the Prime Minister's office deny that the cancellation of the trip is in any way related to the negotiations for the release of captured IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. According to government sources, the talks for Shalit's release will continue, and will not be at all affected by the cancellation of the Prime Minister's trip.

Netanyahu was apparently already feeling unwell when he spoke at the communications conference in Eilat. On the way home from that event, his condition worsened. Netanyahu suggested to Chancellor Merkel that Minister Moshe Ya'alon travel to Germany in his place, but the Chancellor preferred to wait for Prime Minister Netanyahu himself, and the meeting was put off until January.

According to the Prime Minister's original itinerary, he and his entourage were to have flow out of Israel's Ben Gurion airport at 7:00 this morning, and landed in Germany at 11:15. An hour later, the Prime Minister was supposed to have met with Chancellor Merkel, and at 3:00 in the afternoon (Israel time), a joint press conference had been scheduled for the two leaders.
