  • The Mission Continues

As in the past so it remains today - we were and still are under the selfsame commitment to adhere to the directions of the Gedolei Yisrael, who stand guard against breaches of purity threatening our camp. When we were required to ask – we asked. When we were instructed to depart – we left. The moment we are summoned back to raise the flag, every other consideration is pushed to the side and we answer: We are ready!

Barak in Washington: “Working to Resume Negotiations”

A short while ago Defense Minister Ehud Barak said in Washington that the Israeli government is working its best to promote the resumption of negotiations with the Palestinians. He said this in response to Saeb Erekat’s claims that he tried to arrange meetings with Jerusalem, but was politely declined.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak, currently visiting Washington, said a short while ago that "We are working our best to resume negotiations with the Palestinians."

Barak made this statement in Washington, in response to Saeb Erekat’s claims that he tried to arrange meetings with Jerusalem, but was politely declined. In conversations with his American counterpart the Defense Minister added that "we must recruit President Obama and the United States to make efforts to start the talks.”

A senior White House official confirmed this morning (Monday) that the meeting between Obama and Netanyahu will take place tonight, and is likely to engage in an effort to restart the hesitant peace process in the Middle East. It was also reported that the two will discuss the stalled negotiations between Iran and the West regarding Tehran's nuclear program.

Netanyahu's office responded dismissively to reports of tension between Jerusalem and the White House. However, until the last moment an explicit and formal answer was not received last night from the White House about a meeting between Netanyahu and Obama. As a result, the Israeli delegation expressed disappointment in the American treatment.
